Resolution #2 To Cook More! (with Cooking Mama)

In an effort to save money, I decided my New Year’s resolution would involve cooking at home. So far, I’ve been doing pretty well.

I have to admit, I don’t have much experience when it comes to cooking - I need all the help I can get. Enter the cute game Cooking Mama, where you complete a bunch of mini-games to create a recipe of your choice. She will instruct you on each task, and depending on how you do, her reactions will change accordingly.

For this entry, let’s make fried prawns, shall we?

1. Peel the shrimp - move the head up and down to remove it. Pull the legs and shell to peel.

2. Coat various foods - tap and roll the ingredients to coat with flour and egg.

3. Roll in the coating - tap and roll the ingredients to coat them in bread crumbs.

4. Deep fry - put the ingredients in the pan to cook. When they float and change color, remove them to serve.

5. Arrange the plate - arrange food on the plate as you like.

There you have it. Doesn’t it look lovely and delicious? I suppose one day I could try to make some fried prawns in real life by following the directions above….

This game has a simple charm to it. If you tend to be a perfectionist (like I can be) you can spend a lot of your time trying to perfect each dish, earning gold medals where you’re successful.

On another note, I had a co-worker tell me her favorite style of eggs is fried, sunny-side up. She wondered out loud how to cook the yolk well-done (not runny).

Without hesitation, I responded, “Add a bit of water, cover it so that the steam will cook the yolk!”

“Oho, that makes a lot of sense,” she responded.

“I learned that from Cooking Mama…..” I said, sheepishly.

I suppose Resolution #3 would be to write more posts here, but I’m hard-pressed to find a writing/blogging game.
