First and foremost, I am a gamer girl living in Southern California. I love games! So, I want my blog to be a compilation focused around video game discussions, and maybe a list of cute stuffs, random humor, entertainment, etc. This is also a project that forces me to practice drawing so that my skills aren’t constantly deteriorating.
I prefer to remain anonymous, so I won’t reveal my last name or my face for now. This is a blog about my point of view, but I am not here to boast about kicking guys’ butts in certain games, or that I’m hot (I’m really not), or that I’m special and rare because I game (gamer girls are not endangered species!). I’m here to educate, spread the word, shine the light, garner interest, give a shout out to, and focus on my passion.
Now, given that I like gaming, I will admit that I am slightly “behind” on games due to lack of funds. I have not played every popular game out there. I’ve played many, but probably not the most current ones. I also lack time to play since I’m trying to be anti-anti-social (one of the drawbacks of being a hard-core gamer). So I’d say my experience of games are intermediate but not expert - I may not play the game, but I’ll probably know or have heard about it.
This page’ll be updated in the future while I stabilize what I want my blog to be about, and what I want visitors to know about me.
My Video Game Resume
I collect weird games because they’re fun to me. I suck at fighting games - it’s one thing to memorize a combo, and it’s another to have to flip the controls just because I’m facing a different direction. Plus, I don’t know why, but every time I play fighting games, my left thumb hurts a lot. And when I get nervous? I can’t pull off combos - very frustrating for me.
I’m not interested in sports games for some reason. I can’t really explain why. It’s more fun in a group setting, but when I’m playing by myself, I can’t get into it. Racing games are included in this genre for me.
That said, here are my favorites…
Console: Playstation 2. I actually had about 10 games for it before I buckled and bought the system. Yea!
Survival horror: Silent Hill (the first one). The fully explorable 3D world view is limited by foggy ash and a sense of foreboding when the radio starts crackling to signal nearby monsters. The sounds are excellently disgusting, and the atmosphere with the music makes me anxious. This game’s horror factor is not purely based on surprise scares (like Resident Evil) - it’s more of a psychological thriller.
Role Playing Game: It has to be in this order - Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy 7, Diablo II. I could not get into Final Fantasy’s turn-based system, so I fell in love with Secret of Mana because it was real time, and the characters are so cute! Sometimes you fight books that cast spells based on whatever random page they land on - sometimes they land on a naughty picture, so they cast heal on themselves. There are ninjas that use mirrors to turn “invisible”, zombies that moonwalk or look like The Scream painting, and ducks with army helmets that call in air strikes while they lie flat.
Chrono Trigger, also had nice details as well as an interesting ability to determine the game’s multiple endings. The battle system is what eased me into accepting turn-based fighting systems, and ultimately, Final Fantasy 7. FF7’s music, 3Dness, and story won me over. I mentioned Diablo II for its replay value - every couple of years, I find myself playing it again…it’s just fun!
First Person Shooter (FPS): Half-Life, Battlefield 2
I choose Half-Life due to the nostalgic value of killing people at the college lab. That’s where I made most of my friends. Battlefield 2 because it added realism of crouching, stamina, and vehicles to the pot. Special ops rule like ninjas!
Real Time Strategy (RTS): Starcraft: Broodwars
Ok, I suck at RTS in terms of strategy, but I like trying. Starcraft, like Diablo II, sneaks back into my life every couple of years. Actually, I like the battlegrounds in World of Warcraft and Guild Wars…it’s chaotic and fun sometimes. What can I say? =) Sometimes it’s not all based on skill.
Music game: too hard to choose, since I like this genre.
Puzzle game: Lumines, Shadow of Colossus
Overall, I like co-op games more than vs. games as I’m not very competitive.
Hopefully this video game resume gives you an idea of what type of games I like and what direction I’ll be coming from.

Excellent list and summary about yourself! As we know, our preference of games is definitely similar…and I’ve bought 10+ games for the PS2 and I STILL don’t own one!
I approve of your RPG list, though I think I might have to add a couple…FFIV, FFVI, and Parasite Eve, with FFIV being my favorite of these 3. Have you ever played the sequel to Mana (Evermore)? I own both, NOT in emulator form! One sad thing though…I don’t know where my Chrono Trigger is!!! *sob*
When are you coming back to WoW?
There’s too many games for me to play! I will be unable to catch up. T_T I think I’ll play those games you mention when I retire.
WoW I am NOT touching with a 10-foot pole…..for now.
nice site!
I have figure out that no one want homepages, because “ego” is not a hot topic or something. So I kind of think your “About Tei” page is really appropiate. I may even steal it, because I don’t even have to change the nick, as I am know as Tei for ages (short version of Teilaxu).
I like your blog, good work!
